Marjorie showing Maria an album
containing Devassy's letters and photos on her 85th Birthday
On September 18 1999, Maria, Devassy's youngest daughter spent 85th
Birth Day of Marjorie at her home in Roseville California.
Marjorie had made special arrangements for Maria's visit. She
had kept all the letters and pictures sent by Devassy during the last 43
years
in a nicely bound Album ( She has preserved even the envelops in which
the letters were sent)
Maria is currently working as a software consultant in the United States
In 1957 Devassy used to write letters by Sea-mail . The cost of sending a seamail letter was four annas( 25 Np). The postal department took minimum two months to deliver those letters and another two months to receive a reply.
Then came the airmail letters.
Now a days Devassy and Marjorie uses the postal department only once in a year. i.e. to send Christmas Greetings during Christmas time.
Marjorie's niece Carolin helps her in replying to Devassy's Email letters and the friendship is now progressing much faster way with the help of Information Technology. Devassy is able to talk with Marjorie over the Internet Phone some times although the voice is not very clear.
Devassy has one regret. Marjorie has not been able to visit India
. Still looking forward to the long standing invitation of Devassy .
May God bless her.
